It's almost Scamper time!! Our favorite time of the year! Last years' event boasted 418 runners from all over Montana and our great nation. This year, we expected to see even more!
Take a peak at the 2022 Smelter City Scamper to experience the look, feel, and fun times had at this exciting event. Then view the race day details listed below. You'll find everything you need to know in preparation for race day!
SCAMPER SCHEDULE OF EVENTS:
Friday August 4
4pm - 6pm Packet Pick ups @ Pintler’s Portal Hostel (218 W Park st. ).
Saturday August 5
6:30am - 9:30am Packet Pick ups at the start line
7:30am - Half Marathon start time
8am - 10K start time
8:30am - 5k start time
10:30am - 1 block kid run. (There will be various rounds of the kid run broken down into age groups, but all parents and their children should assume they will run at 10:30am when it starts.)
11am - Awards Ceremony in the Kennedy Commons
11am - Brewfest, Food Trucks, and Live Music in the Kennedy Commons
PACKET PICK UPS:
Friday August 4 from 4pm - 6pm @ Pintler’s Portal Hostel (218 W Park st. ).
Saturday August 5 from 6:30am - 9:30am at the start line
The Friday packet pick up is recommended for all who are able to make it then/there.
RACE PACKETS:
The 8 and under children will receive a race packet that does not include a t-shirt because they run for free, but kid shirts will be available for purchase.
We are proud of our race packets! Many local businesses will be placing coupons and gifts in the race packs. Be sure to look at all of those items upon receiving your packet as many of them are only redeemable over the Smelterman’s Day weekend. You will also find nutritional supplements from Hammer Nutrition, Bobo's bars, chapstick from Laslovich Orthodontics, sunblock from Community Hospital of Anaconda, and so much more!
RACE COURSE
All races will start and end at the Kennedy Commons.
Please click on the below links and be sure to review your race route prior to race day:
There will be a biker leading each race to ensure the lead runner follows the correct race route.
There will also be many volunteers directing our runners and mile makers specific to each race.
Water/aid stations will be set up every 2 miles on the race course.
Restrooms will be at the start/finish line.
SMELTERMEN'S DAY WEEKEND CALENDAR OF EVENTS:
FRIDAY, AUGUST 4
9am - 4pm: Sidewalk Sales in Downtown Anaconda
5pm - 7pm: Artwalk in Downtown Anaconda
SATURDAY, AUGUST 5
7am - 10:30am: Smelter City Scamper
11am- 3pm: Brewfest, food trucks and live music in the Kennedy Commons
11am, 2pm & 5pm - Anaconda bus tours of the Anaconda Smelter hosted by Discover Anaconda
SUNDAY, AUGUST 6
11am, 2pm & 5pm - Anaconda bus tours of the Anaconda Smelter hosted by Discover Anaconda
1pm - Smeltermen’s Day Parade. It will go down Main Street, take a left on Park Street, take a left on Hickory Street, and end on Third Street.
Post Parade: Family fun at the Kennedy Commons. Kids activities, food, and live music
